Jorge Valenzuela Antelo

Jorge Valenzuela-Antelo is a Ph.D. candidate in Plant Breeding under the supervision of Dr. Amir Ibrahim and Dr. Shuyu Liu. He currently works on mapping traits adaptive to the U.S. Southern and Central Great Plains in a ‘TAM 204’/’Iba’ population as well as gene editing using CRISPR/Cas9 in wheat. He also participates in the Wheat CAP project cloning a QTL in chromosome 2B associated with yield and kernel weight. Prior to joining Texas A&M, he obtained a BS in Biotechnology at the Instituto Tecnologico de Sonora, a MS in Genetics at Colegio de Postgraduados, and was a consultant in wheat breeding at CIMMYT.
