Aya Bridgeland is a Master’s student in Plant Breeding, and she works in the Crop Genome Editing Lab at Texas A&M University under Dr. Endang Septiningsih. Before attending Texas A&M University, she received her B.S. in Crop Sciences from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Her research is focused on developing a CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing protocol for cowpeas with the ultimate aim of improving the nutritional composition of the crop. She also works on plant stress tolerance, where she is investigating the genetic basis of frost tolerance in rice seedlings.
